On computer bulletin boards, “what he/she said” (sometimes abbreviated to WHS) indicates agreement with the previous post. In medieval Italy, a speaker would agree with a point prevously made by saying detto, “said”, the past participle of dire, “to say”, which was passed into English in its current form more than 500 years ago. The word carries the same sense of me-too agreement today.
