Titera’s Tidbit: Buddha
In about 563 B.C., a prince was born into a noble Nepalese family and named Siddhartha, which is believed to mean “the realization of our goals”. As a young man, he renounced worldly things to become a wandering monk, and thought he attained supreme enlightenment while meditating under a tree beside a river. The name he felt he was given means “the awakened one”, with connections with the English verb “to bud”.
