Titera’s Tidbit: KFC
In 1930, Harland Sanders founded a diner called the Sanders Court and Cafe – a bit grand, since it was located in the front room of a gas station. He built his clientele by serving the fried chicken that would form the basis for an international chain, launched in 1957, called Kentucky Fried Chicken. In the 1990s, when all things fried became suspect, the company took the emphasis off that important word by implementing the abbreviation “KFC”.
